Shared Visions Project Update for April 2026
Building our own tools, setting up the production pipeline, and capturing our first interviews.
Shared Visions is an immersive documentary about the Apple Vision Pro community. We’re telling the story of those who are building, exploring, and using this technology everyday. Learn more.
We’ve made a lot of progress since the last update in March. Let’s review some of the highlights from the team.
We launched a new internal tool called Story Drop. This web app lets our participants create profiles, coordinate interviews, and upload assets for the documentary. Our team of producers and project managers is using this tool to match people with interviewers, schedule recordings, and work with participants to make sure they have everything they need.

Once an interview is recorded, it can be uploaded to Story Drop. Paolo and the editing team can download the assets on a central workstation and start plugging them into the workflow. Paolo has been documenting the video editing pipeline and related tooling. He gave us a quick tour at a recent community meeting.

We created a new GitHub org and a repo to work in. Jeffery got us started with a project structure. He has also been sharing UI concepts with the team in our Discord. We have a new Apple Developer account set up for and Mike has been adding the dev team to it. Mike also recently shared a video demo to show us the progress of the timeline player. Check it out!
This demo ignited some ideas from our Design and UX team. Andrew and Oliver have been working on some concepts and Phil has been iterating on the overall app flow. It’s going to be awesome to see how the app and timeline player take shape over the next few weeks.
Matt made some changes to a TestFlight app to allow us to capture high quality Spatial Video, along with Spatial Time Lapse footage.
During out weekly meetings we refined the interview questions and overall story arc. Mel laid the foundation for the story and Ian helped rephrase some of the questions. Michael and Jonathan kicked off a Best Practices document which we are handing off to our interviewers. Michael, Jonathan, Jimmy, and Joseph have been coordinating acting as producers, making sure everyone has what they need.
We asked for interviewers and many people answered. Tim, Alan, Roz, and Oliver are helping with remote interviews. Our producers also also helping coordinate some in-person interviews where it makes sense. We have groups of people in the Bay Area, Dallas, and NYC. Some participants are even traveling to meet up to interview one another.
We recently captured our first two interviews (featuring Tom and Sam), with about a dozen more in the planning phase. We’re going to interview the people who have been active in building the project first. Then we’ll reach out to the rest of the participants who signed up for Shared Visions. If you’re part of the Shared Vision project, make sure you check your email for details on how to access Story Drop. You can also find instructions in the Discord Server. If your invite code has expired, you can reach out to Joseph to request another.

If haven’t joined us, you are welcome to sign up. We can’t guaranteed we’ll get to everyone this late in the project, but we’ll do our best.
At our meeting next week, Paolo will run a video editing and production workshop. We need all the help we can get with video editing. Please attend if you would like to get active with the video team. This is a great opportunity learn more about editing with DaVinci Resolve, team projects, Spatial Video, etc.
We’ll keep working on as many interviews as we can. We have some real momentum now. Let’s keep pushing this project forward and tell our story.
