Step Into Vision – Housekeeping Update March 23, 2025
Follow and support Step Into Vision. Get involved at Office Hours.
I don’t often get a chance to write about the Step Into Vision project. However, a lot has happened since the launch of the site. Let’s talk housekeeping.
Follow Step Into Vision
There are three main ways to follow along: Email, Social Medial, and RSS.
Email: Sign up get emails when I post on the site. This included the regular newsletter, as well as any posts I think are worth featuring. You won’t see an email for every post (that could get a little annoying, right?)
Social: I’m active on Bluesky and LinkedIn. I’m also trying to post more on Mastodon, but I don’t have much of a community there yet. After I publish something Step Into Vision, I follow it up with a post on these sites.
RSS: If you don’t want to miss anything, then consider the main RSS feed. If you don’t want to see every post, you can follow only the categories you care about. For example, if you only want to see example code posts, add this feed
https://stepinto.vision/category/example-code/feedYou can find a full list of feeds here. I prefer RSS over email or social media. This is my go-to method for following the sites I love.
Newsletter
I’ve been sending newsletters out every other Sunday since I launched the site. I’m planning to change that to Fridays. I haven’t decided if I want to send this every week, or stick to the every other week cadence. I may also rename the newsletter. Something like Step Into Weekly, or This Week in visionOS, or something like that.
Are you getting any value from the current newsletters and recaps? What do you want to see? How often do you want to see it? Reply to this email or leave a comment below.
Office Hours
In early 2025, I started a weekly Office Hours meeting. This has become the highlight of the week. Every Friday at 2 PM (Eastern US) I get to hang out with awesome visionOS developers. We support each other, answer questions when we’re stuck, share resources and projects, and generally just geek out about Apple Vision Pro. If you haven’t attended yet, please stop by and join us.
Roadmap
What’s next? I have a few things planned, but we all know that WWDC will shake up those plans. Here is what I’m thinking as of today
- Dark Spaces: I want to ship an initial version of this app before WWDC. I’m not sure yet if that means App Store, or just a TestFlight, but I want to get this out into the world.
- Keep pushing on Example Code: I have over 200 posts planned for the example code section, with more ideas all the time. In particular, I want to focus on the RealityKit Concepts series. I’d love to cover the basics of every main topic, so we always something to quickly reference.
- Expanding or replacing the Learn visionOS page to create a better structure for the example code. I want to make it easier to find the answers you’re looking for.
- Books, tutorials, courses. This is a bit further out, but I’m planning on releasing longer content. I’m leaning towards written content on the site or as a book, but I may consider some videos.
Support
If you find Step Into Vision helpful, then I could use your help. I set up a ko-fi account if you would like to leave tip, I’d very much appreciate your support.
