Exploring RealityKit Physics components.

Happy Friday! This week I’ve been busy with some examples to cover four physics components. We’ll dive deeper into more physics topics over time, but I wanted to get some examples out first. I also made an example to show three ways to use attachments in RealityViews. No new labs this week, but I did spend last weekend working on Dark Spaces. Make sure to check out the latest devlog.

Example Code

Collisions & Physics: Getting Started with Physics Body Component – Adding the component in code and in Reality Composer Pro.

Collisions & Physics: Hello Physics Simulation Component – We can use this component to create localized physics rules.

Collisions & Physics: Hello Physics Motion Component – We can use this component to read or write angular and linear velocity.

Collisions & Physics: Hello Physics Joints Component – We can create collections of entities that are linked together.

RealityKit Basics: Placing attachments in a scene – Three options for how to place attachments in a scene.

I added another awesome blog by Todd Heberlein to the resources section. Explore this and 28 other great resources on the site.

I’ve saved the latest episode of Spatial Builders to my watch list. I’m really enjoying these discussions.

@augmenos.bsky.social recently updated one of his apps, Mexico Vision. I finally had some time to dive into it. Learn about Mexican culture with some compelling models and environments and enjoy the excellent narration. Dev note: I love the subtle use of animations to bring the app alive.

My first visionOS app ever (published last year) got some much needed love and a refresh today. 😀Please go check out Mexico Vision 2.0 🇲🇽! apps.apple.com/app/mexico-v…
