Shared Visions: Update on Story Workshops

Recapping our recent workshops and plan for what’s coming next.

We recently wrapped up two workshops related to the Story and Theme process. Thanks again to Mel Randall for running these workshops. Let’s recap these meetings.

The agenda for Workshops 01 and 02

We reviewed the summaries from the Share Your Story process. There are a lot of theme ideas here and some great anecdotes from our members. You can download a copy of these summaries here.

We also set some goals for the project and discussed who our audience is.

Primary Goals include

  • Share our work: What we’re building and how we’re using Apple Vision Pro
  • Capture a point in time: What was it like in these–the early days–of the visionOS world
  • Connect with others and grow the community
  • Make it education, entertaining, and inspiring
  • Capture the magic

Our audience includes

  • Apple Vision Pro users (general audience)
  • Apple and Apple Leadership
  • People who may not be convinced of the value of Apple Vision Pro
  • Us: our community of early adopters and builders

We discussed ideas for the structure for the App, as well as some ideas for the structure of the Story. There are a lot of questions to work out, but our community has a lot of great ideas.

App structure ideas

Mel introduced us to the idea of a Story Telling Device and showed some examples. We left things off here with a week to think about ideas.

Workshop 02 was all about these ideas for Story Telling Devices. We used a Figjam board to capture and review ideas. Many of these ideas can be blended together in interesting ways.

One idea that came up over and over is the idea of a physical object that can appear in videos, with a digital twin that can show in the app. We have some ideas for how to hand this time off between the video and virtual worlds.

After presenting our ideas to each other we left a task to do some Dot Voting on our ideas. We’re working to schedule another meeting soon so we can keep making progress. We’ll announce it as soon as we have the details.
