A call for Stories
This is your reminder to complete the “Share your Story” form by Thursday Nov 20. Your answers to these questions will help us discover concepts and shared themes as we enter the writing process. You can find the form at the end of this article.
A call for Team Leaders
There are a lot of tasks that need to be done to get this project underway. We have writing tasks, infrastructure questions, editing workflows, asset creation, UX design, development, and community work. Many of you signed up to contribute your skills in these areas and we need your help. We’ve created five teams to organize this work: Story, Video, App, Publishing, and Project Support.
We need Team Leaders to help guide and coordinate the project. These teams and roles may move around a bit as we continue to jump start this project. Your role as a Team Leader will include working with the members of your team as well as the other Team Leaders to share progress and resources. We’re asking for anyone who is willing to lead a team to step up. If you are willing to serve as Team Lead, please post in the team-leads channel in the Discord. If more than one person wants to lead a given team we can open it to a vote.
We may also want leaders for smaller teams. For example, Oliver W. has volunteered as a UX lead and will be working closely with the rest of the App Team. Feel free to propose smaller roles like this.
We could use a Team Leader for the Story Team as soon as possible. So much of this project depends on story and structure and we need to get started. We should also consider around of community sessions with a focus on Story and Theme. As soon as we pick a leader, we’ll work with them to coordinate these meetings.
A note on Communication
We created a Discord as a place to communicate and work together. We want to encourage you all to get more active there. You have ideas for this project–you’ve shared many of them in Office Hours or in other discussions. Please set aside some time to explore the channels, introduce yourself, share ideas, volunteer tasks, and make connections. I’d encourage you to make a habit of checking in once or twice per week. The folks who get active here are the ones who will shape this project.
We’re aware that not everyone has access to Discord. We examined the options when starting the project, and Discord was the best option we found. We could use some help keeping people updated outside of the Discord. If anyone has ideas or would like to volunteer, please let me know.
Sharing our work
I’d like to get your feedback on the best place to share our work publicly. I’ve been using Step Into Vision to do that so far. Do you think we should create a second website and a new set of social media accounts? Or keep things under Step Into Vision? I’ll post a poll for this in the Discord.
