Step Into Newsletter – December 19, 2025

Your weekly update from Step Into Vision.

This Week on Step Into Vision

We have some new examples in our RealityKit Basics series.

RealityKit Basics: Visual Bounds. – We can use visual bounds to get the center, extent, and other properties of a bounding box for a given entity.

RealityKit Basics: 3D Text. – We can generate 3D text from an attributed string and some configuration options.

RealityKit Basics: Extruding Meshes. – We use data from a Swift Path to extrude a 3D Shape.

Check out the entire series for examples on ModelEntity, Entity, Components, Materials, RealityView, Attachments, Interactions, Events, Animations, Entity Actions, and many other topics.

Lab 101 – Exploring Extrusion Methods. – This lab builds on the Extruding Meshes example above. We can use linear, tracePositions, and traceTransforms to extrude meshes.

Lab 098 – Vector Subtraction. – A guest lab from Michael Temper to show subtraction of two vectors

We have more coming on RealityKit Basics and Spatial SwiftUI before the end of the year. We’re also hard at work on animation example code. This may end up one of our most comprehensive series on the site.
