Step Into Newsletter – October 31, 2025
Revamped Gesture Series, a lot of aMUSEment, and opportunities meet with Apple.
If you thought things would slow down after the launch of the updated Apple Vision Pro, then think again. The entire community is busy building, documenting, and exploring this new device and what it means for Spatial Computing.
This week on Step Into Vision
We have three new examples in our series on System Gestures. These extend our current knowledge using SwiftUI Gestures in RealityKit with the new Gesture Component in visionOS 26.
Gesture Component. – Exploring a new way to add gestures directly to entities.
Transforming Entities with Gesture Component. – This explores a way to capture the entity transform when a gesture starts. We can use that value in our calculations to transform the entity.
Targeting an Entity with Gesture Component. – We can use three instance methods to access entities and additional features in our gestures.
We’ve also updated the outline for System Gestures on the Learn visionOS page.

Also this week:
Environment Blending Component. – We can use this to control how entities blend in with objects in our environment.
Lab 093 documents some issues we’re having with Manipulation and Gestures when using RealityKit portals. Not everyone is seeing the same behavior here, so there are still some things to figure out.

We’re hard at work on the new Community Calendar, Developer Directory, and YouTube Channel. But these things take time and money and we could use your help.
