Step Into Newsletter – September 8, 2024
Welcome to the first edition of the Step Into Newsletter. It’s been about two weeks since the soft launch of the site. I’ve had my head down working on the final version of my app before the launch of the imminent visionOS 2. Once things calm down a bit, I’ll get back to work on the example code and demos.
What is this?
Step Into Vision is a resource for developers and creators working with visionOS. I have a lot planned for this project in the future, but for now, I’m starting small.
- Example Code: The Example Code section of Step Into Vision will feature bite-sized articles to demonstrate core features of visionOS. I’ve started with a small series that focuses on managing windows. I’ll be expanding that to volumes and spaces before moving on to the next topic.
- Demos: A place to showcase Spatial Computing UI/UX concepts and ideas. These demos will often be more opinionated than the Example Code. I’ve seeded this section with a couple of demos from my personal website, but I plan to start working on more in-depth demos soon.
- Resources: A collection of links to valuable resources for visionOS developers. This includes anything from assets we can use in our projects, code repositories, and other websites or blogs about visionOS, to media like videos and podcasts. If you want to add something to the resources section, just let me know.

What do you want?
I want to hear from you. What do you want to get out of Step Into Vision? What sort of examples and demos do you want to see on the site? What do you want from the newsletter? Simply reply to this email, use the contact form on the site, or hit me up on social media.
News & Events
Apple is hosting their annual iPhone event tomorrow. I don’t expect much news about Apple Vision Pro, but hopefully, we’ll get a release date for visionOS 2.0.
The first global Vision Hack is fast approaching! I attended the warm-up party last Friday. It was awesome to see so many faces from the developer community. I’m excited to build something, but I’m even more excited to see what everyone else creates.
Columbus visionOS Developers is having its second meeting on Monday, Sep 16. If you’re in the Central Ohio area, please join us!
